A crawler won't tell you it stopped coming back.

Watch the robots.txt, redirect, SSL and DNS changes that quietly cost you crawl budget, indexation and traffic.

Pinger watches the things that quietly cost you crawl budget, indexation and rankings, and tells you the day they change rather than the quarter you notice.

What goes wrong, and how you find out

  • robots.txt changes overnight

Someone ships a staging config and Disallow: / goes live. Pinger alerts on the change itself, and separately on whether Googlebot's actual access changed, which is the part that matters.

  • A redirect chain grows a hop

Every extra hop dilutes signals and slows crawling. Trace the full chain and watch for loops.

  • The certificate expires on a Saturday

An expired certificate is an outage to a crawler as much as to a visitor. Pinger warns you well before the date.

  • DNS changes without a ticket

A records and nameservers moving is either a migration you knew about or one you did not. Either way you should hear about it first.

The part most monitoring misses

  • Access comes before visibility

Tools that track whether you are cited in ChatGPT answer a question that only matters once the crawler can read you. Pinger answers the one underneath it: does your robots.txt actually let them in? That is a cheaper question and it is usually the cause.

  • Blocking a trainer is not the same as blocking an assistant

Blocking GPTBot keeps your writing out of training data. Blocking OAI-SearchBot removes you from ChatGPT's answers. Those are opposite outcomes and robots.txt files confuse them constantly. Pinger resolves access for 28 crawlers and alerts when a search engine or AI assistant is newly blocked.

  • Uptime you can put in a report

Ninety days of history per site, so a ranking drop can be checked against what the site was actually doing that week.

Tools you can run right now

No account needed.

Most things that break a website never take it offline.

An uptime check tells you the server answered. Pinger tells you whether the site still works.
